Blissful Souls Joyous Devotees
The Wish-Fulfiling temple is located in a serene environment, surrounded by mountains and water.
In 1997, Rinpoche told Angela Wang to build a memorial hall where the memorial tablets for the deceased could be placed.
Requirement 1: Transparent windows with ample light.
This would provide the deceased with a bright and happy resting place, allowing those who come to pay respects to feel gratitude. It would also inspire the greatest love and compassion for all sentient beings, sowing the seeds of future Buddhahood.
Requirement 2: A high ceiling.
An Indian painter was asked to paint on the walls around the memorial hall, depicting the 12 links of dependent origination leading to the Buddha's enlightenment, along with sacred and majestic images of the 21 Taras, the 35 Buddhas, the Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara, and the Medicine Buddha.
In 2000, a 24-foot statue of Maitreya Buddha was installed in the memorial hall, which is why the hall is also known as the Maitreya Hall in Chinese.
Maitreya Bodhisattva is the future Buddha who will succeed Shakyamuni Buddha and currently resides in the Tushita Heaven.
Therefore, this space, both inside and out, benefits not only the deceased but also the living, who can perform full prostrations or meditate, thereby forming an auspicious connection with the future descent of Maitreya Buddha.
The Pure Land of the Medicine Buddha was completed through everyone's concerted efforts. The many sacred statues and treasures have endowed this sacred place with even greater spiritual energy. We welcome everyone to come here to purify their body and mind and establish a connection with the Buddha.
